Electrolyser

An Electrolyser is a device that seperates hydrogen and oxygen from water using electricty. Modern electrolysers use the polarity of the gaseous to seperate them and contain the gases in seperate containers to be utilized.

Now that we had a number of H2 conversion that need hydrogen we thought it would be a good idea to produce our own hydrogen. We decided to make an Electrolyser

for our group. We didn’t really have any good “plans” for electrolysers so we decided to make a couple small demos. Not really because we needed the hydrogen, we did have a cheap steady supply of h2 coming to us, but we just really, really wanted to create our own supply. What we ended up doing is taking a few metal rods, spatulas and other electrodes and in various configurations, medias and storage containers to make our hydrogen and oxygen.

This experiment was useful and did help to temporarily alleviate our need to make our own hydrogen, but definitely did not answer all our questions nor satisfy all our desires to make H2.

However this project did get put on hold, because of the many events, demonstrations, speeches and other projects AHANW was involved in.
